Oak Cliff Nature Preserve now has 8 miles of trails which consists of 6 loops. The trails cross 2 creeks that runs through the property 14 times, including 5 wet water crossings. DORBA relies on volunteer labor to blaze new trails on their projects. The trail consists of a variety of open fields, and wooded areas. In the spring the feilds are wall to wall wildflowers.
They refer to these volunteer outings as work days. Work days typically occur on Saturday mornings where volunteers are asked to meet at the site around 8 am and choose a task. A recent work day saw 18 volunteers who used rakes, shovels, limb cutters, and other equipment to blaze 0.7 miles in one morning. Work days typically end around 11 and the group shares in some food and beverage before riding the trail. Anyone interested in helping to maintain the Oak Cliff Nature Preserve trail can contact Tex Maniac on this site.
To get there from Interstate 35E, take Illinois west, and just past S.Hampton make a left on Pierce. Go past the houses and black fence, turn left into the back of the apartment complex, and make a right at the gate (dirt drive). Look for the sign on the fence. On weekends overflow parking is done on the street. There is a trail head off the street as well.

Rode to about 5.7 miles and then walked out w/ flat tire. No tube. no patch kit, bad preparation. Still love this trail. Riding or walking it's still great exercise. Starting to get dry and loose, but still in great shape.
I reloaded the map with colors.
Dannii, I'll E-mail you a copy so you can attach it as they seem to disappear from time to time for no appearent reason.......LOL.
Trail is in perfect shape (morning of 7/13), amazing after all that rain... the forest air is humid though, so be prepared to sweat...
Sorry. That has a map but it isn't the one you were looking for with the loops color coded. I thought I remembered seeing a map with color coded loops at one point too.
Until it's fixed, there is a nifty work around.
If you go to the Revisions tab, and select the "17 Apr 2010 - 22:45" revision, it will show you the web page with the maps.

Have no idea what happened to map. Solo???
Trail is in great shape. Went out there yesterday evening, trail still was still a little muddier than I thought it was since we had sun all day Sunday. Thank goodness for a breezy night last night and throughout the day today. There is just one slick corner on loop one, should dry out by tomorrow.
Don't get me wrong, I haven't ridden out there in a while but I thought Shadow was the steward on this one >.<
I am hoping the past few days of sun keep going so I can ride ^_^
what happened to the map with color coded loops?
Forget the map, what happened to the steward?
Most of the trail maps have vanished on the trails page. Some trails actually have a trail map, but for the most part when Dorba made the new website, most of the trail maps disappeared.
Great job on the trail. Just got back into riding and went there yesterday for first time in 3-4 years. LOADS of fun. Got a little lost towards the end with all the trail crossings but managed to find my way out. Loop 6.5 wore me out in that heat! Nice work everyone. That's the closest trail to me (well, maybe LBH), and now maybe my favorite.
