Oak Cliff Nature Preserve now has 8 miles of trails which consists of 6 loops. The trails cross 2 creeks that runs through the property 14 times, including 5 wet water crossings. DORBA relies on volunteer labor to blaze new trails on their projects. The trail consists of a variety of open fields, and wooded areas. In the spring the feilds are wall to wall wildflowers.
They refer to these volunteer outings as work days. Work days typically occur on Saturday mornings where volunteers are asked to meet at the site around 8 am and choose a task. A recent work day saw 18 volunteers who used rakes, shovels, limb cutters, and other equipment to blaze 0.7 miles in one morning. Work days typically end around 11 and the group shares in some food and beverage before riding the trail. Anyone interested in helping to maintain the Oak Cliff Nature Preserve trail can contact Tex Maniac on this site.
To get there from Interstate 35E, take Illinois west, and just past S.Hampton make a left on Pierce. Go past the houses and black fence, turn left into the back of the apartment complex, and make a right at the gate (dirt drive). Look for the sign on the fence. On weekends overflow parking is done on the street. There is a trail head off the street as well.

Any chance the trail will be open tomorrow?
Trail has a few tacky areas and some slick corners. If it doesn't rain tonight and want to get in a morning ride, come on get some before the rain, if it rains. Forecast for tomorrow is 70%. There was a forecast of 60% for today, but OCNP did not get any rain.
I like this idea of workday and party. A true bike club!
rode this morning, pretty sticky and a couple slick spots on 5 and 6, but totally ridable. but this doesnt matter cause its gonna rain tomorow. stupid nature.
So how is the trail for tomorrow?
OCNP claims another pair of shades...
Found a pair of Oakleys Saturday morning at the top of one of the rooty climbs on 5. PM with a description and I will get them back to you.
Hey pnorman, I never thought I would see those glasses again. U R amazing. My friend Frank saw your post in here. Thx to U both. (Description PM'd) I was out for only my 3rd ride this year riding 1,2,3,5, & 6 and Frank was killing the trail. The trail was killing me. I stopped at the top of that hill and died for 5 or 10 min, then barely finished 6 and after resting at the truck for twenty min started to head out down the road, realized I was missing those shades, pulled a U'ee, and went back and rode 5,6,3,5,& 6 again searching, but unfortunately went home empty handed. Anyway, I think I learned my lesson: don't try to ride Frank's pace ...yet, lol. I really can't thank you enough for finding my favorite shades. My gf bought me those 3 years ago, and was a little upset with me again, lol. 3rd time losing or destroying nice glasses. AWESOME TRAIL!!
THX again,
jgrimm

thanks for the resource.

what happened to the map with color coded loops?
