Oak Cliff Nature Preserve now has 8 miles of trails which consists of 6 loops. The trails cross 2 creeks that runs through the property 14 times, including 5 wet water crossings. DORBA relies on volunteer labor to blaze new trails on their projects. The trail consists of a variety of open fields, and wooded areas. In the spring the feilds are wall to wall wildflowers.
They refer to these volunteer outings as work days. Work days typically occur on Saturday mornings where volunteers are asked to meet at the site around 8 am and choose a task. A recent work day saw 18 volunteers who used rakes, shovels, limb cutters, and other equipment to blaze 0.7 miles in one morning. Work days typically end around 11 and the group shares in some food and beverage before riding the trail. Anyone interested in helping to maintain the Oak Cliff Nature Preserve trail can contact Tex Maniac on this site.
To get there from Interstate 35E, take Illinois west, and just past S.Hampton make a left on Pierce. Go past the houses and black fence, turn left into the back of the apartment complex, and make a right at the gate (dirt drive). Look for the sign on the fence. On weekends overflow parking is done on the street. There is a trail head off the street as well.

OCNP claims another pair of shades...
Found a pair of Oakleys Saturday morning at the top of one of the rooty climbs on 5. PM with a description and I will get them back to you.
Found a pair of sunglasses at OCNP Sunday 6/13/10. They are black and say "Locs" on the side in a very gangsteriffic chrome font.
They clearly aren't worth any money, but possibly they hold a special place in someones heart, or are part of an Eazy-E halloween costume.
It was awesome today...
excellent trail conditions. Thank you, GOD... thank you, trail steward.
sorry i didnt update yesterday. friend didnt want to ride if it was still officially closed, so I just went to Sansom instead. it was unbearably hot!
Walked the trail this evening. It was drying out really good. There were a few tacky areas and some slick corners, but most of it, if not all should be dry by the morning.
i think ill chance it and go in the morn.
