Oak Cliff Nature Preserve now has 8 miles of trails which consists of 6 loops. The trails cross 2 creeks that runs through the property 14 times, including 5 wet water crossings. DORBA relies on volunteer labor to blaze new trails on their projects. The trail consists of a variety of open fields, and wooded areas. In the spring the feilds are wall to wall wildflowers.
They refer to these volunteer outings as work days. Work days typically occur on Saturday mornings where volunteers are asked to meet at the site around 8 am and choose a task. A recent work day saw 18 volunteers who used rakes, shovels, limb cutters, and other equipment to blaze 0.7 miles in one morning. Work days typically end around 11 and the group shares in some food and beverage before riding the trail. Anyone interested in helping to maintain the Oak Cliff Nature Preserve trail can contact Tex Maniac on this site.
To get there from Interstate 35E, take Illinois west, and just past S.Hampton make a left on Pierce. Go past the houses and black fence, turn left into the back of the apartment complex, and make a right at the gate (dirt drive). Look for the sign on the fence. On weekends overflow parking is done on the street. There is a trail head off the street as well.

Thanks Boomer. If you head out there today -- let us all know how the trail looks.
no problem. i am heading out there around 330 today. Boulder is open so I imagine OCNP is fine, but will be sure to stop if I find anything muddy

I'm thinking of heading to OCNP on Saturday morning (only been there once). I remember someone previously saying it was easy to take the DART there from Mockingbird Station. Sounds like a great idea, I live in Lakewood and would enjoy not having to pack up a car of gear.
- Any issues with brining a mountain bike inside the train?
- What train color/# do I take?
- What is the name of the stop near OCNP?
Thanks in advance.
TD
never done this, but Im bored at work and looked it up.
It looks like you want the red line all the way to Westmoreland Station. Westmoreland is the last stop on the red line.
heres a map: http://www.dart.org/maps/printrailmap.asp
They also have a section on bikes on the trains. It is permitted.(look about halfway down the page guidelines on taking your bike on the train) : http://www.dart.org/riding/bike.asp
Good luck.

Glad we got some rain today. The trail needed it.
I actually took care of that tree, 2 days ago, me and a friend pushed it out of the way.
Sweet. Like I said, I was going to try and tackle it myself but the bees in the end made me instant Jet Li. (I have a thing about bees. Been that way since I was a kid LOL).
Thanks to you and your friend for moving it. I plowed right over it but it wasn`t fun, and could have been really bad for someone not seeing it until the last minute.
Let us know at least before both our schools accept the PAC 16 invite please...i need to ride some of this anxiety off
