New Year's Resolution #2: Have a Plan

As many of you know, 2010 marks the 20th year that I have been racing a mountain bike. For a large portion of those years, I raced under the idea that not only was I bulletproof, but I could also get to be a better rider and racer, by simply riding my bike faster, every chance I had. To a certain extent that worked. Then in the 90’s the heart rate monitor came out, and all of a sudden “training plans” became demystified to the masses with the use of heart rate monitors. Or at least we thought so.

The Ultracentric promoters have been working to get their permits and sanctions in order and in the last several days have provided me with the following:

Additionally, DORBA has been given this guarantee by the Ultracentric MTB Race Director:

Sansom Park Race is CANCELLED.

It is again with great disappointment that I must report that the DORBA Board in conjunction with the FWMBA Board, and the Race Director has decided to cancel the North Texas Series Race at Sansom Park on Sunday, November 1st.

New North Texas Series Race Director Appointed

Luke Simsonsen has resigned as the North Texas Race Series Director. Luke leaves the position with the thanks of the Board, membership, and racers.

With two races remaining in the series, the DORBA Board has asked Ben Thornton to step in and serve as the Race Director for the North Texas Series. He has accepted, and was appointed by the Board in an Executive Session.

If the weather holds we are all looking forward to the race on Nov 1st at Sansom park in conjunction with FWMBA.

Cry Havoc and Loose the Volunteers

The North Texas XC Series is upon us.  After an ambitious and successful series from 2008, the 2009 NTX hopes to be even bigger and better.  While DORBA is not an organization that is focused on racing, the races DORBA does host provide DORBA with over 60% of its annual funding.

Good Luck Ray "1+1=1" Porter!
