The Sun Brings Hope...

I saw something today in the afternoon sky that I had not seen in some time.  While the weather has been consistently horrible since last September, the sun showing itself today reminded me that warm temperatures, and hopefully dry conditions cannot be far away. Like many of you, I am tired of spin classes.  I am tired of riding on the road.  I am tired of NOT riding dirt.  In fact, the last time I did, I was reminded how long it had been before that, as my handling skills had deteriorated.  With the impending better weather (hopefully), dry dirt cannot be far behind.  But as soon as there is consistent dry dirt, and the two wheeled masses rejoice, rest assured, carnage on the trail cannot be far behind.  Whether it is from changed trail conditions, new participants in the sport or just a general lack of being in the dirt, for what ever reason, there will be some carnage.

To that end, at the monthly DORBA meeting on Tuesday, March 2 at 7:00PM, we will be having the meeting at the Garland Fire Department  (classroom C417) located at 1500 E. State Hwy. 66, Garland, TX 75040.  This fire station serves as the first responders to the Rowlett Creek Preserve trail, and they have seen plenty of action at RCP.  They will be presenting a series of things we can do as cyclists when we arrive on the scene of an incident, and what we can do to assist, before emergency services arrives.  So please take this as a personal invite to come on out, ask questions, meet some riders, eat some pizza, and find out about upcoming races and events such as the final Frozen Endurance Race, the Bar H Bash, and Women’s Camp.

I look forward to seeing you there.
