Type
Single Track – Single Loop
Distance
2.2 miles
Description
This is a two mile clockwise loop for bikes counter clock wise for foot traffic that winds around 25 acres of the park. It's fairly twisty and has numerous off camber ups and downs. The lap ends with two sustained climbs back to the trailhead. The trail is suitable for all skill levels. It is not a technical trail but can be an aerobic challenge. A large white sign at the trailhead details the IMBA rules or the trail. Be a pal and follow the rules, we all win that way. Facilities include a beautiful pavilion complex with picnic table land BBQ grills as well as restrooms. There is also the first phase of concrete trails which totals approx. 1.25 miles. Several years ago an additional Phase two of concrete tails and an overlook on the north side of the park were added. Combined, the concrete trail now totals about two miles which makes for some great riding in addition to the DORBA trail. At present, work days are on an as needed basis. Any idea when the trail will be re-opening? Thanks!
With all the rain that's fallen in Plano, and all of the chances of rain that's in the upcoming forecasts, I wouldn't count on Arbor Hills opening again for another week or two.
Any idea when the trail will be re-opening?
Thanks!
Might be ok tomorrow night if it doesn't rain again. The clouds aren't looking good right now though. It's still muddy down by the creek right now.
How long you think the trails will be closed? With good Texas heat, do they normally dry up 2-3 days after a hard rain? Especially as dry as it's been, alot of that water probly didn't even soak in, it just ran off into the creeks.
it's perfectly dry and rideable with only a couple of spots that are even tacky, which will probably be gone after today.
...except i's raining here now.... D'OH!
Forgot to mention - There is a pretty low branch in the first tree section turns down by the creek - just after where the steep part leads into the trees over the embedded stone track - watch out - its a helmet basher and will probably just get lower...
Branch removed.
Still closed as of 7:30 this morrning, but it's perfectly dry and rideable with only a couple of spots that are even tacky, which will probably be gone after today.

Rode the trail at 7:30 PM on Saturday evening. Trail is in great shape now, with only one slightly soft spot just before the 1.8 mile marker. Even that should be firming up overnight with the warm temperatures. There are some firm ruts where the trail was ridden prematurely, mainly on the initial downhill parts and immeadiately after in the trees.
Should be great on Sunday (and maybe even officially open). Did see one one smallish snake on the fast downhill part towards drop circle - mainly black with a lot of yellow markings on its back - avoided it OK, but nearly endo'd in the process ! It all adds to the adventure...
Enjoy...
The trail is ridable right now.
so.... i rode AH today at 12:00pm.... and the first half was good... no mud on my tires .
after the first big downhill going by the creek.....it was a bit damp in some of the shady areas..
be careful with that fast downhill... cant tell if it's eroded or ruted... may pose a danger if you are going fast. as we always do.
i did have mud on my tires by the time i left.... the surface mud.. ... like an oil spill kinda mud...
not the deep mud from ruting up the trails...
i m thinking tomorrow will be good to go
