Description
Erwin Park is a city of McKinney public park. The trail is just around 8.1 miles. The trail is a mix of tight and twisty in the woods to some fast open field sections. There is plenty of climbing to get you heart rate up. Since you're going up, there are some fast and fun downhills as well. There are some technical sections and most of the technical sections have alternate (easy) routes around them. The trail does have some dips. The last section of trail is called the expert section. There is an alternater route to your left crossing a bridge (left - easy; right - hard). This is the only alternate route with a bridge.
Camping is allowed for a very nominal fee. Contact the city community center at 972/542-0045. They are located on the north bound service road of central, north of Eldorado Parkway.
Some simple Erwin Park rules:
• No Alcohol; Zero Tolerance on this rule
• Park and drive on paved surfaces only
• No firemarms (anything that releases a projectile)
• Stay on the trail
• Yield to pedestrians
• Authorized trail maintenance only (do not cut trees to decrease your lap time by 2 seconds)
• Park hours are 8 am until 10 pm daily (unless you are camping); gates are locked at 10PM
Facilities
• Bathrooms (closed during the winter months (Nov-Mar))
• Camping Available (972-542-0045)

Does anyone know if there is a Facebook profile for DORBA? I'm unable to find it, but I've been told there is one. thx
I rode the dirt/pave road around the park yesterday. The trail from what I could see is still too muddy to ride. Some parts of the dirt road was muddy enough to get my bike dirty
but no build up.
Remember we should be able to ride it by September
cheers

Expert section was ridable today. Doesnt look to promising for tomorrow though.
Conditions havent changed. Still wet and muddy. Got more rain last night to add to the mysery.

ogalosh....hate to be the bearer of bad news, but unless a severe drought happens, this trail is going to be unridable until late spring/summer. It needs the Texas heat to dry it out.
