Description
The most well-known and most used trail in the entire metroplex. This is an old motorcross trail that was first used to cycle on by Tom Deans, a long-time DORBA trail steward. This trail runs between Rockledge Park and then west, past Twin Coves Park on the north shoreline of Lake Grapevine. 9.5 miles each way for a total of 19 glorious miles of multi-terrain, multi-skill-level trail. The east side is good for intermediate riders while the west side is considerably more technical in spots. There are several "rock gardens" on this side, a real challenge to ride through. Watch out for hikers and other bikers speeding around bends. An average of 800 bikers visit per week, so be extra careful!!

Thanks for all the help on Sat.  We got alot done.  Still some pungy sticks out there but the new route bypasses the lake over the trail section east of Madd Shelter past the 1st road crossing.  I'll be bench cutting climbs and off camber turns when I find time to work.  I haven'tbeen on the MtB for 2 months on the Northshore because of wet conditions.  More rain yesterday and today so am focused on fixing what is broke for therapy.  Try to get road riding in to stay on two wheels.  We all want to get back to the dirt but riding the wet trail just means more work for a dedicated work force.  Please be patient and lend a hand when Chlue, Pete, Erik and I ask for it.  We want to ride the trail more than you can imagine.  Riding is our therapy, stress relief and our passion also.  Thanks again.  ---- Reggie

Northshore Trail is still closed. Bummer.

...but for those that love this trail, we had an GREAT WORK CREW come out this morning to help re-route some of the "always flooded" low lying areas between Murrell Park and MADD and we also added some new, fast and slinky trail.

"But why is the trail still closed?" ...WATER. It's still seeping out all over the trail.
"I rode out there and most of the trail is dry." ...Yes, we understand this and love it when the wind and sun come out but the wet areas are staying wet as the ground is saturated.

Thanks for your help in finding other trails to ride for now and for coming out to help build and maintain Northshore.

RE: Murrell Will the new track be open this weekend? Do you still park by Lil Pete or at Murrell for new track. Rate difficulty, please 1=easy 10=nut cruncher

Bring the kid out for a little trail work. They usually like it for a little while.   I am sure we can find somewhere for him to ride after.

I went out to help trail build last Sunday and it was a really good time.

Met Reggie,Pete and Chlue and a few others and these are great people doing great work for the benefit of everybody who loves to ride Northshore.

Instead of riding tomorrow, just get your butts out and help get the trail ready for Spring.

It was rewarding to go out there and give back to the trail that has given us all so much enjoyment.

see you there.....??

The lake is still over the trail in atleast 3 spots there are many spots where water is still seeping out of the hills onto the trail. So tomorrow Sat the 6th trail is still closed.  yes there is a lot of very dry areas but its still closed due to the other problems.

We are and have been working on fixing these spots so we can get it opened quicker  1 very large by-pass around flooded area in Murrell and plans to re-route other spots that stay wet longer than we want.

So to help with getting these things done Pete and Reggie will be out at Murrell park in the am  continuing the work and getting the fixes done.  there is enough work for every one.  The more people that show up the sooner we get this stuff ready to go. once this area is fixed the trail should be above water  at 5 feet over conservation pool   by Sunday am I think we shoudl be able to see trail in the flooded areas although they will still be wet.

If I make it out tomorrow I might take a smal crew and start cutting west side   Acoe walked the design and oked to start.

Work day tomorrow  9am  high water boat ramp   in Murrell park, look for Pete. Bring ground working and stump pulling tools.

Gloves water food   ect......   tell your friends if you have any.

Good news is that ACOE has not shut the dam down so the lake is still going down. With more sun, lake levels dropping, and a bit of luck we could be riding by Friday.  I will post conditions again thursday or before.

Reggie is getting close to finishing the newest trail in Murrell that will eliminate the lowest spot on the trail.

With any luck I will start cutting new trail and fixes near madd this week.

Are We LUCKY yet? The above quote was from Monday 3/1
