the one specific place is on the north loop. someone keeps moving the debris and sizable tree limbs i put there to cut a very easy right turn. there are a couple of others too, but this is the one that irks me the most. all the trail in 20 minutes?

River Rats have been closing Bandit trails however have some that seem like they need to be opened . Workday planned for Sept 18 @ 9 AM.  Projects that need attention: Tree Issue, Dirt for Prairie Loop, Complete the trash removal before stinky pipe; removed tires once before & now clean up that corner. If can block some bandit paths great......

Thanks;

River Rat

If you no skilled hacks could please stop cutting shortcuts on the trail, that would be super awsome. If for some reason you feel you need to ride something thats smooth and straight please feel free to move about 30 yards north to the 11 foot wide sidewalk. once you can ride the 6 mile trail in less than 24 minutes, maybe we can talk about making some adjustments. until then effoff.

Ummmm. OK? Exactly who are you talking to? I don't think anyone on here is cutting new trails on purpose. There are a lot of other people that use that trail and tend to use the shortcuts and "illegal" shortcuts way more than the MTB-ers. Once the trail becomes worn in, sometimes it's very difficult to keep to the proper trail. I know of at 2-3 sections where this has happened and I do what I can to tell all riders to use the proper trail, not the runner/walker/ etc shortcuts. Smile

And I'll see your 24 minutes and "raise" you to less than 20 minutes, then you can keep up with me out there. Wink

I agree, we should try and reclaim the bandit trails. Perhaps we should rototill them. Proper trail maintenance protocol says that's the way to do it.
We (the River Rats) would be happy to have you and any others come out and help. I believe the trail day is September 18 but watch for a posting here to be sure. You can also join the River Legacy River Rats Facebook page for updates and info.

It would be worth a good days work to go out and reclaim those short cuts. There should be enough debris and organic matter to cover the shortcuts up and make them unrideable. Unfortunately, it will probably be an ongoing chore.

Any idea on when the work day will occur? I would be very interested in helping if my schedule allows. I could bring my trail tools along: pulaski, mccloud, chainsaw, wheelbarrow, etc.
Sorry, but I do not have a come-along.

Rode RL for the first time on Saturday. I loved it. My wife commented on how someone does a great job of maintaining this trail. Thanks!

Downed trees in the Prairie Loop, Cub Loop and North Loop have been cleared.  There is a major fall in Fun Town looming over Baby Bear and Mama Bear.  Not a one man job; I couldn't /  wouldn't tackle it.  Same kind of situation at Cub Loop entrance but OK for now. Also cut down some stumps that had popped up and dealt with a spoke breaker in North Loop. We have several trees that have been broken at their tops. The resulting tree fall is hung up in other adjacent trees. It is dangerous work clearing those as they can break off and send hundreds of pounds of tree down on you.  We will need to clear these during the work day.  I hope someone has a strong come-along as that would help a lot.  Other than that, the trail is in prime shape.... go get some.
