Trail is now a 4,35 mile loop. It is broken down in 3 loops approx. Loop 1 has a little climbing (not much really) and then gets pretty flat with some fun rollers along the creek side.
Im planning a ride out there tomorrow (Friday Aug 27th) afternoon with my brother. Neither one of us have ridden in a while. Im sure its dry, but what skill level is it? Anything I should be aware of?
Loop 1 (the first mile) is mainly easy with only a few challenging hollows (about 3 or 4). These hollows are really only worth mentioning because you approach them at a lower speed (due to tight bends just before them) and you need to be in the right gear and it can be a bit of a grunt to climb out the other side. Once you've done them a few times and worked out the best approach line and gears to be in then they are straight-forward. On your first run, if you do stall and put your feet down you'll probably be able to walk on out the other side.
This track was my first ever experience with off-road biking six months ago and I did just fine. I do not take my eight year old son on Squabble Creek though - he would not be able to handle loop 1, but he has been around the easier loops at RCP.
I rode the trail tonight and it is dry and fast. There's a bit of powdery dust on some corners on loops 1 and 2 so you need to watch your speed. Leaves are starting to fall on loops 2 3 and 4 which may present further traction issues. The dust and leaves are really only a problem if you're going flat out.

first mile might be challenging. but, smooth going after that with only a handful of rollers by the creek.
Glad to see your riding, I'll be home again in about 2 weeks, looking forward to riding.

I would willing to help out with squabble creek anytime needed.
Im off Sundays and Tuesday right now.
If you need BBQ for volunteers Im down for bringing it on workdays for everyone too.
Lmk when and where.
I'm willing to help out at Rowlett creek too.
Rode the trail for the first time Saturday. Trail a liitle loose in some of the corners, but to be expected this time of year.
I rode the last two nights and the trail is in great shape. It's got just a bit of growth, not much at all. Stays cool back under the canopy. First time I've rode since the injury and since we cut the last section, which is flowing and fast.
The mulch is a bit rough coming towards the exit down the old fire road. Only one snake in the last two nights. Thank goodness.
I still can't walk well enough to get out there with a weedeater for 4.5 miles, so any help would be appreciated.
Thanks for the info everyone. We went last night (just before dusk) and didn't have any trouble. Great beginner course, but not boring. There are just enough hills and turns to keep it exciting. I think we went a little late in the day as it got dark pretty quick under all the trees. Leaves are starting to fall and it will make it a bit difficult to see the path this fall and winter. Great trail overall. Thanks DORBA and to the City of Rockwall Parks Dept for supporting this trail!
